Geraldine Ferraro is Not a Racist..As Far As We Know...

In my opinion Geraldine Ferraro has made comments that appear to be biased. She was on ABC's 'Good Morning America' today, Wednesday, 3/12/08. I'll let you be the judge:
If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," Ferraro told California's "Daily Breeze" newspaper. "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
This comment was read to her by the "Good Morning America" host, Diane Sawyer.
Geraldine Ferraro confirmed the comment, and she was inflamed by the reaction to her comment. She is being called a racist.
When I heard her original comment the first time, it sounded confused and illogical. When you see the words and start to analyze the statement:
The first part; "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," So Ferraro thinks if Obama was white, he would not be running against Clinton and in the lead. She takes a very odd view here because she alludes to some kind of privilege he has as a black man. Is there some kind of secret racial quota system this year that only Geraldine Ferraro knows about? This smells of racial bias. Obama can run against anyone and in this Presidential Race, he has run against 5 white men, 1 Hispanic, and 1 white woman, and he is leading! Have you forgotten that Afro-Americans are in the minority here in America?
The second part; "And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position." So now you think if Obama was a woman, he wouldn't make the cut? I suppose his voice would be a problem. This smells of gender bias.
The third part; "He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept." I'm sure Obama gives thanks to be alive every day like most of us do, but lucky? Did he win the Lotto?! Lucky to be an Afro-American and male? Right, so he can listen to your biases based on race and gender, Ms. Ferraro?! The second sentence seems to allude to something else. If she means that Barack Obama may be the first Afro-American President and people are just voting for that. Well, I'm a white mature male and I support Barack because of the person he is. I see him as a great leader that is putting together a large grass roots effort to take our country back first, his platform second, a terrific persona third, a non-typical politician fourth, and Afro-American last. I talk to Afro-Americans and they think along the same lines. Don't you think they want a good President? Does Geraldine Ferraro claim to know what is in the mind and heart of every Afro-American and Barack supporter in the nation? Geraldine, if you can read minds, why is Senator Clinton losing and when will Barack win the primary?
